Shaker doors

A routed profile is a manufacturing recipe, not just a visual style.

See how material, border geometry, tooling, preparation and finish must be commissioned before a Shaker door can be released.

The clear version

What this part of DIY Joinery is for.

DIY Joinery already models routed and five-piece door concepts internally. They remain outside the public component compiler until an exact factory recipe proves the geometry, tooling, material and finishing process.

01

One-piece routed

Profile, depth and border must be exact.

A routed Shaker front requires a commissioned tool profile, controlled material thickness, corner treatment, preparation method and approved finishing system.

02

Five-piece construction

Stiles, rails and infill create a different product.

Five-piece fronts need joint geometry, engagement, tolerances, movement and assembly validation. They cannot inherit rules from a routed panel.

03

Release status

Dimensions can be discussed without implying orderability.

Customers can prepare a general slab-front schedule or contact support about a proposed Shaker project, but the public tool does not compile a Shaker machining recipe.

Approval sequence

One proven recipe should precede a range of variants.

Every visible option must map to evidence the factory can reproduce.

01

Commission one profile

Approve one material, thickness, cutter, border and finish combination.

02

Test the envelope

Produce samples at the proposed small, large and difficult proportions.

03

Publish the verified limits

Only then expose the recipe, dimensions and compatible finishing choices to customers.

Engineering evidence

What a public Shaker recipe still requires.

These are factory-controlled inputs rather than customer styling preferences.

  1. 01Approved board and thickness
  2. 02Immutable cutter/profile identifier
  3. 03Border, depth and corner geometry
  4. 04Verified size and proportion limits
  5. 05Preparation, primer and topcoat system
  6. 06Sample, inspection and packaging record

Useful detail

Common questions.

Can I order a routed Shaker door from the current configurator?

No. The public component compiler currently prepares rectangular parts only.

Why can one rail width not simply be changed on screen?

Changing the border affects tool paths, corner geometry, remaining material and finish preparation, so each supported range requires controlled rules.

Can I still discuss a Shaker project?

Yes. Send the intended dimensions, quantities, finish and references to support for engineering review.

Engineering enquiry

Discuss a Shaker project without bypassing the evidence gate.

Include dimensions, quantity, reference style, material and finish expectations.
